Criteria for OHIP Publicly Funded Physiotherapy

OHIP PUBLICLY FUNDED PHYSIOTHERAPY:

Patient Eligibility Criteria:

To qualify for OHIP funding, patients must be referred by a physician or nurse practitioner based on the findings of an assessment that the person requires physiotherapy services, be an insured person under the Health Insurance Act (OHIP) and be within one of the following categories:

  • Aged 65 years or older
  • Aged 19 years or younger, or
  • Recently discharged as an inpatient of a hospital and in need of physiotherapy for the condition, illness or injury for which the person was admitted to the hospital
  • OR be referred by a physician or nurse practitioner based on the findings of an assessment that the person requires physiotherapy services and be eligible for Ontario Disability Support (ODSP) or the Ontario Works (OW) programs.

Patients that are eligible for this program, MUST present their OHIP card at each visit.  Each person must have a valid OHIP card.  Any services rendered that is not covered by OHIP will be charged to the patient. There are special senior’s rates for those who have completed their OHIP programs and wish to continue with our clinic privately.
